Livelihood
We equip young people, parents, and guardians with the education, skills, and resources necessary to pursue meaningful livelihoods and employment opportunities within their communities.
A significant portion of the slum community in Kampala faces illiteracy and lacks professional skills, resulting in limited job opportunities predominantly within the informal sector. This informal employment often entails casual or unreliable work, offers no job security, and provides low wages.
Youth unemployment is a pressing issue in Uganda, with an alarming 83% unemployment rate among individuals aged 15 to 24.
In response to these challenges, we have initiated various programs aimed at equipping young people and caregivers of children in our program with essential skills. Our focus is primarily on women caregivers, as many families we support are headed by females, and women are more inclined to allocate their income towards meeting the basic needs of their families.
